The workshop is based at The Hermitage, in Mt Cook Village. If you are arriving via Queenstown airport, we can pick you up the morning of the workshop, or you can meet us at The Hermitage. On the last day, we can drop you back to Queenstown to connect with late afternoon flights.
Start time on day 1: The workshop will start at 8 am at Queenstown or 12pm at The Hermitage.
Finish time on day 4: The workshop will finish in time to be in Queenstown by 3 pm on the last day to connect with late flights.
Our workshops run with a maximum group size of 8 and 2 tutors, offering 1:4 ratio of tutors to guests. Limiting class sizes ensures we provide you with the best learning environment possible, including expert guidance, instruction, and personal attention according to your learning style. Smaller groups of up to 4 may only be led by one tutor.
A minimum level of physical activity is necessary to enjoy the workshop. Most locations we shoot on this workshop will require some walking of 15-30 minus one way along formed tracks carrying your gear.
Ideally, you will have a basic knowledge of photography and be comfortable adjusting camera settings such as aperture and shutter speed. The aim of our masterclass workshops is to cover more advanced creative camera control and help you to further develop your own style and vision. You will also receive free access to our Online Essential Landscape Photography Course to make sure you are camera ready for the workshop.
Camera Equipment: Our workshops focus on how to use your camera, not your type of camera. A basic list of recommended camera equipment can be found here
Clothing: A list of recommended clothing to wear on the workshop can be found here
A non-refundable deposit of NZD$400.00 is required to reserve your space for the workshop. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the workshop. You may pay in full at time of booking, the balance (minus the deposit) will remain fully refundable until 30 days before the workshop.

The masterclass to Mount Cook covered so much and despite changeable weather the guides found great places to shoot. The tuition and advice was first class.
An Outstanding workshop. Perfect combo with Landscape sessions during the day and Astro after dark. Stunning locations in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. Fantastic tuition, I learned so much and managed to get some images that I’m super happy with. 11/10 for this workshop and so well organised and managed by New Zealand Photography workshops. Unreserved recommendation.
The tutorials were content-rich, expertly delivered and exceeded our expectations. The workshop price represented genuine value for money. We are already checking our schedule to book another workshop.
