Richard Young is a full-time landscape and wildlife photographer based in Wanaka. He has been guiding groups of photographers in New Zealand since 2010, and in 2013, he founded New Zealand Photography Workshops.
You will be sent via email instructions 2 weeks prior to the workshop to create a login with New Zealand Photoschool Online, once online you will have access to our Online Landscape Photography Course.
We believe that a small group size provides the best possible learning outcomes. Maximum group size is limited to 5.
This is a one-day landscape photography workshop, the start time will depend upon what time sunset is as we aim to finish with a sunset shoot.
All locations we shoot will be within an easy walk along the coastline. If fitness or mobility is an issue please let us know.
This is designed as an intermediate/advanced level workshop for people that already have an understanding of basic setting and how to shoot in manual mode. If you are yet to master the basics please look at Photo School Part 1: Taking Control.
Camera: This workshop is designed for the use of DSLR, Mirrorless or Four-Thirds Camera Systems – your camera lens will also require a thread to fit filters. Please let us know if you do not have a suitable camera as have a number of Nikon DSLR cameras available.
Filters: This workshop is designed to teach you the use of ND filters. We have enough Benro filters kits for everyone to borrow if you do not have you own ND filters. We have adapter rings to fit these to any camera lens with a thread size from 37-88mm. if you do not already have you own ND filters, we recommend using ours for the workshop and not rushing out to buy some, as too often people buy the wrong types. After the workshop, you will have a better understanding of which filter you may use.
Equipment List: A basic list of recommended camera equipment can be found here
Clothing: A list of recommended clothing to wear on the workshop can be found here
