Finish time on day 4: The workshop will finish in time to be in Queenstown by 3pm on the last day to connect with late flights. Please do not book onward flights before 4pm.

Friday: Pick ups from Queenstown Airport or Centrally located Hotel will start from 12.00 pm on the first day of the tour. We will travel to Oamarama over the Lindis Pass taking the opportunity to take in the panoramic vistas of winding roads and tussock land then get settled into our accommodation. A slideshow presentation will follow on the photography techniques we will use in the open panoramic landscapes we will be visiting for the next two days. Tonight, we will head out to shoot sunset over McKenzie Country vistas followed by dinner
Saturday: An early start we travel to my favorite locations for sunrise. After breakfast we will have an image review session. The goal of our midday shoot is to learn how to juxtapose natural and manmade elements to capture the beauty of the Mackenzie Country’s shifting landscapes. Locations include Lake Benmore, Lake Oahu and the Ahuriri river. We finish the day with a sunset shoot.
Sunday: Sunrise shoot with our location dictated by the weather. After sunrise, we may have another image review session. During our return trip to Queenstown, we will stop at a couple of location opportunities with stunning views. We aim to be finished by mid-afternoon on Sunday allowing people time to travel home or meet late flights from Queenstown after 4 pm.
**If weather conditions permit we will take the opportunity to do an Astro Photography shoot one evening.**
A reasonable level of fitness is necessary to enjoy the workshop. There is a reasonable amount of up-hill walking required to and from our locations. If fitness or mobility is an issue please let us know.
Ideally, you will have a basic knowledge of photography and be comfortable adjusting camera settings such as aperture and shutter speed. An aim of the workshop is to give you more confidence in the creative control of camera settings and shooting in manual mode, we will use a lot of “Live View” so make sure you have a second battery. We will have a brief session at the start of the workshop, covering camera settings and controls, to be sure everyone is up to speed.
If you are yet to master the basics, perhaps check out our Photo Schools in Auckland and Wellington.
