About Us

New Zealand Photography Workshops

New Zealand Photography Workshops started in 2013, with founder Richard Young running weekend workshops. We have since expanded to offer a range of unique tours and workshops across New Zealand. As a leading photography tour and workshop operator, we have received a Gold Award from Qualmark, NZ Tourism’s official quality assurance organisation, and have been approved to guide in our national parks by the Department of Conservation.

We are passionate about New Zealand’s stunning landscapes and wildlife. We pride ourselves on offering unique, immersive experiences that take you on an inspiring learning journey.

About Our Workshops

SMALL GROUP SIZES

A small group size provides you with the best learning environment possible, including expert guidance, instruction and personal attention, according to your learning style.

  • All weekend workshops and tours are run on a maximum ratio of 1:4.
  • One day workshops are run on a maximum ratio of 1:6.

SPECIALISING IN LANDSCAPE, NATURE AND WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

All workshops are focused on landscape, nature and wildlife photography (other types of photography can be provided with one-on-one tuition). Each workshop is designed to explore and expand on different sets of skills specific to the location.

QUALMARK ENDORSED AND DOC APPROVED

Our workshops have been Endorsed by Qualmark as a New Zealand visitor activity and we are DOC Approved to run workshops in National Parks and on conservation land.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

As a business New Zealand Photography Workshops is built on our passion and appreciation for our natural environment and because of this we have developed a strong culture of conservation within our company. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as possible but to actively improving the the natural resources we encounter on our tours. This firm belief has become a cornerstone of our company’s philosophy and has lead us to engage in a number of environmental initiatives including carbon offsetting, endemic bird conservation and natural habitat restoration.

WEEKEND & 4 DAY WORKSHOPS

Our weekend location workshops are designed to be “educational vacations” led by a professional photography tutor. You will be immersed in photography and leave the workshop, motivated and inspired!

PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS

Our photography tours are focused getting you to the right locations in the right light to achieve the shots you desire. They offer much more than simple guided tours and have been tailor- made to take you to some of New Zealand’s most amazing landscapes with the aid of a professional photographer.
