With over 20 years of experience in the photographic industry, Blair holds a wealth of knowledge that he’s ready to share.
Photography has been a passion for Blair since his high school years with the excitement of processing black and white film playing a huge part of his secondary and tertiary studies. As digital photography came to the fore in the early 2000’s Blair made the leap of faith to pursue photography as a full time career. Grasping the benefits of ‘going digital’ early on Blair established a freelancing photography business that could provide quality innovative products and quick turnarounds that only digital could provide.
Blair’s early professional career focussed on wedding photography (Blair, not only is a winner of the New Zealand Wedding Photographer of the Year but also 2 x finalist of the NZIPP Travel Photographer of the Year). However Blair’s personal interests looked towards landscape and travel as he explored the natural and authentic experiences of capturing both people and nature.
Along with his freelancing career Blair has diversified his position within the industry as an educator at UCOL Institute of Professional Photography and also as the Professional Support Manager at Lacklands, NZ distributors of Nikon, Tamron, Manfrotto among many others. These exciting roles allowed Blair to assist photographers at all levels reach their potential by providing technical and practical support.
Astrophotography is both a science and an art, and is an area of photography that Blair has pursued all around the world, from the night skies of Nevada to Bali’s coast. Nature and conservation have always sat alongside Blair’s photography of the natural world and he is actively engaged in conservation of the areas he photographs, most notably Blair is a contributor to Great Barrier Island’s successful International Dark Skies sanctuary application.
