Auckland Photography Workshop

Photo School 1: Taking Control is a one-day, hands-on photography workshop for beginners, designed to help you gain a full understanding of your DSLR or mirrorless digital camera and take creative control.

We’ll guide you through what you need to know to get away from using ‘Auto’ mode and teach you how and when to use your camera’s other settings to capture personal and unique photographs. Modern cameras are superb image-capture tools, and we’ll start by covering the key controls before heading out into the field to put them into practice. While the theory may seem a little confusing at first, it will all come together when we go out and shoot.

You’ll learn about the exposure triangle and how to manage its elements; how to read and understand histograms; how to mange focus control and how to create well composed photographs.

To get the most out of more advanced courses and workshops, it’s essential to understand how to make your camera do exactly what you want. This workshop will give you the confidence and foundation to start capturing great images.
