Fine art printing can often be considered a dark art and this workshop covers an easy-to-follow colour management workflow to turn your photographs into professional-grade prints. Our workshop has been designed to simplify the printing process and this workshop will provide the knowledge you need to print your own prints at home or set up to be sent to a photo lab.
This weekend workshop covers a comprehensive approach to learning how to transform your photographs into fine art prints. The weekend will begin on Friday afternoon joining Richard Young for a review and critique session, followed by a waterfront shoot and group dinner (optional/not included).
On Saturday, you’ll learn a comprehensive printing workflow to prepare your images for printing. And on Sunday, we’ll cover Advanced Printing Techniques where you will learn advanced colour management workflows, editing techniques and everything you need to know to create exhibition-quality prints.
The workshop is run by Richard Young, a full-time nature and landscape photographer, who has 19 years of printing experience and has worked with Epson as a printer ambassador for the last 5 years. He will teach you the refined printing workflow that he uses for his own exhibition prints.

Epson NZ Showroom – L2, 25 College Hill, Freemans Bay, Auckland 1011, New Zealand
The showroom provides tea and coffee-making opportunities, toilets and a large boardroom with space for printing and editing.
It is really recommended that you bring your own laptop to work on for the course, if you want to follow along with the exercises during the workshop. However, if this is not possible, you will still be able to cover the course content and make some prints, provided you bring it saved on a USB memory stick.
Software
We will cover printing workflows using the following software: Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Adobe Photoshop, Epson Print Layout and Mirage Print.
It is recommended you have Lightroom CC Classic or Photoshop on your computer if you use this. If you do not have Lightroom or Photoshop, Or do not use Applications, we can still print on your computer during the workshop, using Epson Print Layout which we can install for you.
What is the difference between Lightroom CC Classic and Lightroom CC?
Adobe has recently released a new version of Lightroom, which is a purely cloud-based service. In this workshop, we will be learning to use Lightroom CC Classic. The Classic version of Lightroom is a professional editing tool which is much more powerful and useful than Lightroom CC. We recommend purchasing the Adobe CC Photography Plan monthly if you do not currently use Lightroom (not the Lightroom CC plan). Purchasing this plan will provide you with Lightroom CC Classic, Lightroom CC, and Photoshop. You can also update your software for free by joining this plan. You can purchase it here from the Adobe website.
A 15% deposit is required to reserve your space (deposit is non-refundable). The remaining balance is due 45 days prior to the start of the workshop.
