Ken Wright’s seascapes speak for themselves, outstanding moments in time that capture sunrise and sunset. With 40 years experience in creative industries, Ken is highly skilled in design, illustration and photography.
Start time on Friday: We will begin the workshop at lunchtime on Friday, starting with a discussion on photography, running through the techniques that will be covered over the weekend and then heading out for a sunset shoot this evening.
Finish time on Sunday: We aim to be finished by 4 pm on Sunday to allow people time to travel home.
Our exact schedule will be determined according to the whole group’s photographic objectives and the weather. We keep a flexible itinerary to accommodate this. We will spend the workshop instructing and shooting, often from before dawn until after dark.
A good level of physical fitness is necessary to enjoy the workshop. There is a fair amount of tramping to get to some of the falls, the tracks are rough and often cut through the bush and down through tree roots. You will be carrying your gear for up to an hour to reach some of the falls. If fitness or mobility is an issue, please let us know.
Ken can offer a pick-up from Tauranga. Once on the workshop, all transport is included.
Maximum group size of 4 will be led by one tutor. Limiting class sizes ensures we provide you with the best learning environment possible, including expert guidance, instruction and personal attention, according to your learning style.
Ideally, you will have a basic knowledge of photography and be comfortable adjusting camera settings such as aperture and shutter speed. An aim of the workshop is to give you more confidence in the creative control of camera settings and shooting in manual mode, we will use a lot of “Live View” so make sure you have a second battery. We will have a brief session at the start of the workshop, covering camera settings and controls, to be sure everyone is up to speed.

A non-refundable deposit of NZD$250.00 is required to reserve your space for the workshop. The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the start of the workshop. You may pay in full at time of booking, the balance (minus the deposit) will remain fully refundable until 14 days before the workshop.
